Founded in 2007 by father and son Brian and Shane Flanagan, Bekind is an Irish registered charity that works for the relief of poverty among the street children in Kolkata, India. In 2011, we realised a long-held dream by opening of our first protection home, the Bekind Boys’ Home, where we have since supported 35 boys and care for 25 boys today.
Since its foundation, Bekind has raised over €870,000 to help the poor in India through various fundraising events and donations. Bekind is a completely volunteer-led organisation. Nobody at Bekind takes a salary or expenses, so your donations can make an even greater impact.
Today, the impact of Covid-19 means restricted opportunities for fundraising, which will result in difficulties in continuing to provide care for the 25 boys in Bekind Boys’ Home.
Here’s where you can help – with or without money!
Become a part of our story and help us support the kids who cannot support themselves – in any of the following ways:

Thank you.
The Government-approved Charitable Donations Scheme allows charities like Bekind Ireland to claim 44.9% in tax back on donations over €250, at no cost to you, our donor.
All you need to do is sign and return a CHY3 tax-back form (available here) so we can claim the tax back from the Revenue Commissioners.
The form is valid for five years (unless you choose to cancel it). With this scheme we have the potential to unlock much needed income which could fund life-changing projects like our Bekind Boys' Home. But we cannot do this unless you sign and return your form today!
In order for us to claim tax back on your donations you must have donated €250 or more to Bekind Ireland within one calendar year, in the last four years. You can make your donation as a one-off donation, or by instalments.
For example, a monthly gift of €21 over 12 months totals €252, and qualifies for the tax back scheme. This only applies to personal gifts, and not to funds raised through sponsorship.
It doesn’t matter if you’re PAYE or self-assessed. Since 2013, self-assessed tax payers can no longer claim tax back on charitable donations – only the charity can make this claim from Revenue.
We can claim 44.9% in tax back on donations over €250, at no cost to you. That’s an additional €112.32 on top of a €250 donation, which makes a huge difference to the children we help.
Simply download your CHY3 tax-back form (available here), fill in and sign it, confirming that you are an Irish tax payer, and that you have paid enough income or capital gains tax to cover the amount we will reclaim.
Send your completed forms to:
