Bekind Boys' Home

Bekind Boys’ Home (BBH) opened on 16th January 2012, and provided a welcome home to 20 vulnerable and underprivileged boys. Some of them had been orphaned and abandoned, made destitute and living at risk in the streets and slums of Kolkata. Since then the Home has expanded and, as of 2018, is a sanctuary and haven for 25 boys.

These children live full time in Bekind Boys' Home. The boys each have their own bed, attend local schools, have a live-in house father and mother, residential caregivers, a cook, and the services of a councillor, as many of the boys come from traumatic backgrounds. It is our hope that this setting will be as close as possible to that of a "normal" family home environment.

Since its foundation, Bekind Boys' Home has supported over 64 boys, and currently requires an operating budget of approximately €75,000 per year.

The education support costs for 2023/2024 for the Bekind Boys' Home were generously part sponsored through a grant from The Community  Foundation for Ireland and the Deloitte People's Impact Fund.
